Weave a Rhombic Dodecahedron

0975-i

Here is a novel way to make a model of a rhombic dodecahedron. This model is made out of braided zigzaggy strips of paper. When you are done weaving, you have an attractive and sturdy model.

Steps

  1. Cut out the strips from the pattern.
  2. Score and crease mountain folds along the dot-dashed lines.
  3. 0975-s03Glue the strips on top of each other as shown. The underlined letter goes underneath the corresponding letter on the other strip. The letters are printed so that when the strips are oriented correctly, the letters will be upright.
  4. Braid the strips together alternately passing over and under the adjacent strip. The faces with underlined numbers go under the face with the corresponding number.
